Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

Trauma Informed Therapy

Narrative Therapy

This form of therapy views individuals as separate from their problems and destructive behaviours. It empowers the individual to explore and reshape their life stories.

Trauma Informed Therapy

Trauma Informed Therapy

Addictions

This is an approach rather than a form of therapy. The approach emphasizes the physical, psychological and emotional safety of the client, and helps individuals develop a sense of control and empowerment. We help to manage a wide range of mental health presentations through a client centred approach.

Behaviours and Addictions

Behaviour Addictions

This approach aims to explore the behaviours and addictions that may be negative in a person's life, exploring the consequences on all those in an individual's life. Work in this area utilises components of other therapy practices.  Issues that may be present (but not limited to): online addiction, porn and sexual addictions, drug addiction, gambling addiction, self harming behaviours.

Client Centred Care

Relationship Counselling

The therapies and approaches provided on this page are a limited list. Depending on the client presentation will determine the approaches that will be incorporated into the mental health care of a client.

Couple (Relationship) Counselling

"Intimate partnership is our most potent container for growth. At Davina CP, we view your relationship as a sacred 'classroom' where you can learn to love bravely.

Our approach integrates the research-backed tools of the Gottman Method with the practice of Relational Self-Awareness. We don’t just focus on the 'how' of healthy communication—like navigating the 'Four Horsemen'—we dive into the 'why' of your unique dynamics. By exploring how your personal history shapes your current triggers, you can move from reactive cycles into a space of compassionate connection.

True intimacy requires the 'golden equation': my stuff plus your stuff equals our stuff. We help you cultivate the curiosity needed to understand your internal world so you can show up more consciously. Together, we’ll work to help you both become the 'right person' for yourselves and for each other."

Sex Therapy

"At Davina CP, our sex therapy is grounded in the EfficienTherapist framework, prioritizing a holistic, trauma-informed approach to intimacy. We move beyond surface-level advice to address the complexities of desire, identity, and shame with empathy and clarity.

By integrating psychological frameworks with practical biological insights, we help you navigate challenges like performance anxiety, mismatched desire, or emotional blocks. Using evidence-based tools—including mindfulness, guided imagery, and Sensate Focus—we foster a safe, affirming space to rebuild trust and connection. Our goal is to dismantle cultural stigmas and help you reclaim your sexual self-concept, ensuring your journey toward healing is both inclusive and transformative. Whether working individually or as a couple, we support you in creating a fulfilling, conscious intimate life."

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at contact@davinacp.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Davina Counselling & Psychotherapy is a therapy service that provides mental health support to individuals in need via online consultations. In 2025, face to face consultations may become available.

A counsellor is trained in mental health, mental health conditions and different mental health therapies including cognitive behaviour therapy. We provide the long and short term therapy through talk based approaches. A referral is NOT required.

A Psychologist is also trained in the same therapies as a counsellor, but may have more training in specific treatments and can do more formal assessments.  A referral may be required.

A Psychiatrist is also similar to a counsellor, but do high level work and are able to complete formal assessments as well as prescribe medications to address mental health issues. A referral is required.

In practice there is relatively little difference except in reference to time. Counselling refers to brief counselling of 1-6 sessions, whereas psychotherapy refers to ongoing therapy care.

Davina Counselling & Psychotherapy offers a variety of counselling services to assist adolescents and adults with any concerns they may present. Therapy can assist with anxiety and depression as well as generalised concerns.  Due to experience, we also work with adolescents in their transition from high school to university/work, as well as those impacted by chronic illnesses such as diabetes and coeliac disease. We are now able to offer couple (relationship) counselling as part of our treatments.
